A Romantic's Plea
If I could drown myself in spirits
May I bleed upon this page
And my words they blossom further
To influence every age
If a substance could infuse each thought
To pour a draught of fire
May the blaze ignite a movement
Lest a fallen eve transpire
And if all my life was ended
By the drops of flooding wine
May it be in life and thoughtful song
That's ultimately mine.
